Moving Right Along
Last Thursday, the concrete guys came out and formed up the pad.
On Friday, the concrete was poured! That is one big ole slab of concrete! It needed to be 18" according to the specs, so as you can see we are gonna need some dirt to get the ground back to level with the pad. And notice those nice ruts in our yard. We got those thrown in at no charge!
Even though the concrete crew was at our house until around 9 Friday night getting it right, we were still able to get the kid's handprints in there before they went to bed. Kate's was a little tough since all she wanted to do was make a fist, but that's okay. It's their hands and that's all that matters!
More banana, please.
My conversation with Jackson today at lunch went something like this...
"Is your banana good, Jackson?"
"Mm hmm!"
Continues to shovel slices of banana into his mouth then says, "More banana please!"
"No more banana, Jackson. Eat your pizza now."
"No, Mommy. You eat it."
"You don't want pizza?"
"No!"
"Okay, how about some turkey and hummus?"
"Yeah!"
I spread a little hummus onto a slice of turkey and roll it up.
"Hum, Hum, Hum, Hum." (You have to have heard Jackson eat to really get that one.)
"More please!"
Seriously, my kid refuses pizza only to eat turkey and hummus rollups! At least he did ask for a cookie for breakfast, because otherwise I may be a little concerned.

Good Morning Kate
Sleeping Beauty has been doing great at night this week!! She slept all night, as in from 6:30 til 7:30 two night this week, and only woke up once at 11pm last night! A good night's sleep for Kate + a good night's sleep for Mommy & Daddy = One happy Ryan house in the morning!
Happy Girl!

Rub a Dub Dub...
Kate's in the tub! She is always very serious during the bath -- she kicks and splashes, but she still seems a little unsure of what it's all about.

Workshop? Building? Shed?
Not sure what we are going to be calling it yet, but regardless, the work to build it is officially underway! Jackson's swingset (minus the sandpile you see below) was moved to it's new home across the yard yesterday afternoon. Today the ground is being leveled and the concrete is being formed. Depending on the weather, we should have a foundation by the middle of next week, then it'll be time to go vertical! I'll be sure to keep you posted on the progress as we move along.
Fun With Play-Doh
I have always loved Play-Doh, especially the smell and feel of a freshly opened canister. Well, Jackson loves Play-Doh, too and I love that it can occupy him for quite a while! Yes, it makes a mess, but when you have a little helper around, it's not so bad! And while my favorite part of Play-Doh is the freshness, Jackson's favorite part is taking it all out and squishing the colors all together. I just have to put my OCD aside when we get out the Play-Doh and let him have at it. After all, it is his Play-Doh! Here he is cleaning up after round 1 - a.m.
And I must say, that he went and got the sweeper all by himself. I didn't prompt him at all. He noticed the mess on the floor and ran to get it. I actually had to quick pick up all the big chunks before he tried to suck them up with the sweeper!

Happy Birthday....Me!
My birthday week (yes, I believe we should celebrate ourselves for the week, not just a day!) got off to a great start last night with dinner at PF Changs with my best girl, Ashely! We had a great dinner, then did a little shopping at Crabtree.
My yummy birthday cake. Carrot cake, my favorite!
Our fortune cookies. My fortune read: Your ability to find the silly in the serious will take you far. Good stuff.
Sean had my birthday dinner going before he left for work this morning! A yummy pot roast and veggies! It was already smelling good by the time I left for work, so I was looking forward to it all day!
And while I was having a great day at work, I was pleasantly surprised with a visit from my wonderful mother. She came up just to see me on my birthday! She just popped in carrying a balloon and a present, sweet new flip-flops, just in time to remind me that warm weather will be back. I just couldn't believe she came all the way up just to see me!
I am so blessed to have the most amazing husband, family, and friends! I am so grateful for my wonderful life. It really is a Happy Birthday to me!

Why? Because you are too big!
Jackson seems to go through a bit of a 'Mine!' crisis everytime we bring something out of the attic for Kate. It's happened with the bouncy seats, the bathtub, the rattles, pretty much everything that was once his. I'm not sure if he remembers it somehow or what. Anyway, the Jumperoo was no exception...
Since I had asked him not to climb in there, I told him that he had to figure out how to get out. After one failed attempt, he just decided to 'jump' around and pretend to have fun. I was really trying not to laugh at him, but I couldn't help it. Seeing him stuck and pretending to like it was just too much! After a few minutes, he decided it wasn't very much fun, so he finally worked his way out.

A Very Eventful Weekend...and it's only Saturday night!
We came down to Emerald Isle yesterday to spend the weekend. This morning I went to a baby shower brunch for my friend and old neighbor, Carrie. She and her husband Billy, were our neighbors in Hedingham and they moved to Nashville, TN a few years ago. It was so good to see Carrie and her cute preggy belly!
I just loved this centerpiece! How cute are these pink cowboy boots filled w/ gerbera daisies? A little girl born Nashville will definitely need those!
On the way back to EI from MHC I got my first speeding ticket...EVER. I just wasn't paying attention (no, I was not on the phone!) and didn't realize the speed limit had dropped to 45. On a 5 lane highway at that! He said he clocked me going 57. Whatever. He was a real a$$ too! This afternoon we all took a nap...at the same time. That never happens! Then we all went to dinner. Jackson and Kate didn't like that idea. We were reminded why we don't ever go out to dinner. And now, Jackson is sleeping in a big bed, all by himself for the first time!! This wasn't planned at all. And I'm pretty sure it's a major milestone! Last night I woke up to him standing next to me, saying "Mommy. Mommy. Mommy." Once I'd woken up enough to realize I wasn't dreaming, he said, "What's daat noise?" And walked out into the kitchen. I followed him and told him it was probably just the wind. He said, very seriously, "I don't like wind. Dat scare me." :-) After I picked up my melting heart, and realized that he was not going to "climb" back into the pack and play, I brought him into bed with us. And we all slept great until about 7 this morning! So then, naptime rolled around. We put him down for his nap in the p+p, but within seconds heard him climbing out. So after a couple of attempts back in the p+p, he agreed to nap in the bed next to it. Surprisingly, he stayed in bed and slept for nearly 3 HOURS! Tonight, we didn't even try the p+p. He said he wanted to sleep in the big bed. So we read him a book and tucked him, blankie, lovey, mickey, monkey, giraffe and pillow into bed. And we haven't heard a peep from him.... Yet.

These pictures are kind of grainy. I forgot my camera, so I took these w/ my phone.
