Guess what?!
Now that my #1 goal of 2011 is completed, it's time to work on the rest of my goals for the new year! And now I only have 11 months to get them done. Geezy louweezy!

Noon Year’s Eve at Marbles
Sean and I started our New Year’s celebration a little earlier this year by taking the kids down to Marbles for their Noon Year’s Eve party. We all enjoyed it, so I’m sure we’ll do it again! Maybe we’ll even stay out for the early acorn drop at First Night Raleigh next year!
They had all the typical NYE events – a ball drop countdown…
Followed by tons of confetti…
Jackson especially loved all the confetti! It was tossed down by all the folks upstairs and it just kept falling and falling!
Kate wasn’t quite sure what to think about all the commotion. She just wanted to get down and play!
And play, she did! She had the BEST time! I wondered how she would like the play areas at Marbles since she’s only 1. She wasn’t intimidated by the bigger kids at all! She loved it and was all over the place!
The mail truck has always been one of Jackson’s favorite exhibits.
This picture here cracks me up. I had just told Jackson to hold Kate’s hand and take her with him to the fire truck, but as you can see, she totally took control. That’s my girl! ;-)
Of course a trip to Marbles wouldn’t be complete without a little play on the pirate ship.
Kate wanted to climb the ladder to the top of the ship soooo bad, but it was full of bigger kids and she was just in the way. So she finally decided to entertain herself by stowing away in the crates.

Snow Day After Christmas
Jackson, of course, loved it! What better way to try out the new digger than with some powdery snow!? He’s really good at maneuvering the bucket!
Since I had bundled myself up to get out in the snow with the kids, I had to get a picture to prove it. If Kate really has a lack-of-a-love for snow, well, she got it honest.
I’m glad I did get out in the cold b/c this picture of Sean and Kate is one of my favorites of just the two of them.
This one of me and Jackson is pretty good, too! It’s not often that I take a picture with him where he’s looking and smiling!
You know, most of the time this is what our pictures with Jackson look like. And yes, this was the best I could get.
I just had to get a snowy picture of our house with the Christmas decorations out. The fact that you can see Sean (with a little help from Jackson) shoveling snow from the porch just adds a little more charm. :-)

Christmas Day in Bladenboro
So after spending the morning playing with the Santa loot, we packed up and headed down 95 to Bladen County for more Christmas celebrations. We always do Christmas lunch at my Grandma’s house. It’s not quite the same anymore b/c she isn’t able to do the country-cookin’, but I still appreciate the tradition. I love that she adores Jackson and Kate. Even though her memory and mind aren’t what they used to be, she still lights up when they are around. I think that’s when I see her smile the most. I love that I captured this picture of her with them!
This one of her and Jackson is so sweet, too!
Jackson always has fun w/ Uncle John. The Go Heels bribery continues, but this time they had much for fun with the bird puppets!
In this picture Jackson is playing with a sweet remote control truck he’d just gotten. I loved his face while he was watching it go! Seeing that joy makes my heart smile. And seeing that sweet little face next to it, just makes it smile even bigger!
After a big lunch and a long nap, it was time for some Christmas fun w/ Nana and Pa-Jack. Jackson had been asking all day where his present was, so it was especially exciting for him when Nana told him he had to close his eyes and couldn’t open til she said it was time. He loved that surprise!
But I think he loved the ‘big boy bike’ even more! Um, it has a revving handlebar. How sweet is that for a kid who wanted Santa to bring him a motorcycle!?!
Kate thought she was hot stuff on her new Mossy Oak ride! She still hasn’t quite mastered the button to make it go, but she does pretty good. Right before this picture she had just shot across the driveway all by herself. Proud girl and rightly so!
It didn’t take Jackson any time at all to get the hang of the bike! I was really surprised since he’d never really rode one – only his tricycle and the bike he test drove in Wal-Mart.
I love that he doesn’t mind the helmet! As a matter of fact, he loves it! For several days after Christmas he would wear it around the house. And now, if he’s been riding his bike outside and goes on to something else – sandbox, gator, etc. – he doesn’t bother taking it off. So it’s pretty funny watching him swing with a helmet on. Hey, safety first! I’m not complaining.
Since Jackson was so excited about the bike (and we adults were, too) we just decided to wait til they were in bed before we opened the boring-to-a-kid adult presents. So once they were sleeping we had another little Christmas party!
Coincidentally, my Daddy brought the same friend to the party that Stevie brought to the Christmas Eve party the day before, so the night was filled with lots more laughing!
As for Jackson, I went into check on him after he’d been quiet for a while and this is how I found him… I’d say he had a big day!
And then… Sunday morning, we woke up to this:
Those little baby pine trees you see there – those are Jackson and Kate’s trees. Planted the same year Jackson was born – 2007.

Santa came to town!
Kate wasn’t even up yet, so before we came downstairs Sean went in to wake her up. We couldn’t let her miss out on any of the fun! So as you can see, she really wasn’t quite awake yet.
She may have still been half asleep, but it didn’t take her long to show some excitement! She knew the rocking horse was for her and seemed so proud of it!
I just couldn’t get enough of her sweet little, sleepy face!
So happy!!
Jackson took a break from opening presents to check out what was left of the snacks we left out for Santa and the reindeer.
He didn’t ponder over the treats for too long though! He had more important things to do!
Kate was soooo excited about her new shoes! As soon as she pulled them out of the box, she wanted to put them on. I’m telling you, this little girl loves her some shoes!!
Jackson got a sweet Mickey Mouse watch. He’s always asking what time is it, even though he’s nowhere close to telling time yet. But for some reason, he’s fascinated with time. He’d been asking for a watch for months now.
This little girl loves a sucker! But they make me so nervous!! Santa did good picking out this giant one! No choking hazard here. :-)
Once Jackson finished opening presents, he went right back to work on the digger. I guess the boots and hat Santa brought him just finish off the construction worker look!

Christmas Eve in Wilson
Our Christmas Eve celebration got an early start when we all decided to have a sleepover Thursday night. So bright and early Friday morning all the kids were raring to go! Mom-Mom got right to her post by the high chair to help Kate with her breakfast. She is always so good with feeding the littlest ones!
And look! Mom-Mom and Kate have coordinating Christmas jammies!!
The rest of the kids took a break from running and screaming (they are so LOUD when they are together!) to have a few bites of breakfast.
After breakfast, we all just hung around, listened to Christmas music and enjoyed our time together.
I love this picture of all of our stockings hanging on the mantel. Pop-Pop’s mother made the first ones for he and Mom-Mom for their first Christmas together. Then she (Nana) continued to make them for their children. Once she retired from knitting, Aunt Sis (Pop-Pop’s sister) continued the tradition, making them for others. Now that the littlest ones have come along, various knitters have been commissioned to keep with the tradition. (The twisted, uncooperative one hanging there… That’s Jackson’s. And look how it is a wayyyy longer than the rest.)
We also had a special guest celebrating with us – Ms. November. She was always around to give a good surprise, whether in the panty, the garage, even the bathroom. Between her and Stevie’s other friend, Dickel, there were lots and lots of laughs all day long!!
And now, finally, it was the time the kids had been so anxiously and impatiently waiting for all day long! PRESENTS!!!
After all that fun, we all sat down for a yummy steak dinner. And look who found herself a seat at the kid’s table!! Kate! She wants to be just like the bigger kids!
By the end of the day, we were all stuffed and partied out! We couldn’t sit back and relax for too long though. Santa was coming in a few hours, so we had to head home and get to bed!
Jackson had noooo trouble falling asleep, in anticipation of the big guy’s visit. He fell asleep in the car, then would barely even wake up enough for us to get him into his pajamas! He wasn’t even interested in putting out cookies and milk for Santa. My little guy was pooped!
