Summertime Goodness
Is this enough to make your mouth water or what?? And trust me, it tasted even better than it looks! Grillin' out, especially hamburgers, has got to be one of the best things about summer!

** The only thing that would have made this burger better was if the tomato was freshly picked from our garden. Give us a few weeks...they'll be nice and ripe before long!!

Pee Pee on the Potty!
YAY, Jackson!! Tuesday night after his bath, Jackson went pee pee on the potty for Sean. Yesterday I sat him down on the potty a couple of times and he went...just a little, but he went. And he had good pee pee for Mamma today!! I know it may just be a novelty and we are far from out of diapers, but I am still very excited for him! He's getting to be a big boy so fast!!

Weekend in Review
Our Memorial Day weekend has been pretty quiet, but we've still had a good few days! Here is a review in pictures...
Sean put lattice up around the deck. He did a really good job and it looks great!

We took Maggie to a nearby pond for a swim Sunday afternoon! She loved it!

I admired all my baby veggies growing in the garden. Check out the little squash!

We enjoyed a few random nature moments. Our beaver came into the backyard on Sunday when Sean and Jackson were out there. The craziest nature moment was the fawn on Saturday though. Sean was hanging the lattice and Jackson and I were just playing outside when all of sudden we looked up and there was a baby deer running right towards us! He got maybe 25 feet from the deck before he turned to the right and headed through the neighbors' backyards! The poor little guy just didn't know where to go! So now, when we are outside, Jackson is constantly pointing in the direction the deer ran, saying "Deer!" It's cute! Sorry, but I didn't have the camera in hand when the deer ran up. Here's the beaver though.Saturday, May 23, 2009

BREAKING NEWS
5/20/2009 - I'm pregnant and we're having a GIRL!!
Okay, so I know this is actually old news to most people, but I have neglected to share the news through Good Times. I do have an explanation. So, Sean and me found out, with a tiny bit of uncertainty, very early on that we were having a girl. We went in for a screening ultrasound at around 14 weeks and the doctor told us at first that it looked like a boy, then said he was pretty sure it was a girl. We ended up telling family, but had planned to wait until we had further confirmation at our next appointment until we shared the news w/ everyone else. Well, news traveled a little faster than we expected and before we knew it, there were lots of folks who had heard. I decided that I would blog about having a girl after our next appointment and I would post the ultrasound picture, showing it was a girl, for all to see. That appointment was on 4/22 and much to my disappointment the doctor didn't even give us a picture showing the girl parts. He just said as he was going through the scan, "Still looks like a girl." With no picture, I decided not to blog about it at that time, then we went to Disney, yada yada ya. Well, this past Friday, I was called out. My friend Brandy pointed out that not only had I not blogged about having a girl, I hadn't even blogged about being pregnant. After that I realized, I had not even bought 1 little girly thing for this baby. No pink "I Love Mommy" bib, no butterfly rattle, no "Sweet as Sugar" onesie, nothing, zilch, nada. So on my next Target trip I headed straight to the baby girl section to grab the first little adorable thing that I saw. Well, I found nothing! In the whole Target section I could not find one thing that I wanted to buy. What in the world!?! That couldn't be. So, I went to Marshall's. They always have cute stuff! I went through the entire rack and finally found the most adorable shirt that was too cute to pass up. Only thing is, it's a size 12 months! But hey, at least I've bought her something... Check it out -- Is it cute or what?!?

Workin' in the Yard
One of the spring projects we wanted to tackle this year was the landscaping around the side and back of the house. Well, we recently had a sidewalk poured from the end of the driveway around to the deck. They had to use a backhoe to dig up the grass for the sidewalk, so it was the perfect time to get on the landscaping. My hard workin' mom came up on Wednesday and we got a head start before the weekend. When she got here we went straight over to the Farmer's Market to pick up some plants. And wow, that is the place to go! We loaded up the Odyssey w/ some bushes, flowers and tree, picked up a shrimp plate (that was huge!) from the seafood restaurant, and headed home to get to work. Jackson went down for a long (3 hour!) nap as soon as we got back, so we got a lot done. And let me tell you, my Mama is one mean hole digger! Check her out gettin' down and dirty...
She dug pretty much all the holes and I just put the plants in place. Sean got home around 5:45 and was impressed w/ all the we had gotten done. He knew the hard part was coming on Saturday when he was going to have to dig up all the mature grass from around the deck and next to Maggie's pen!
Here is the bed that we planted on Wednesday.
** So see the little tree there (above)? Well, that is actually not the tree that my mom and I planted. We were sold a much larger tree that would allegedly only get about 3 feet wide at maturity. When Sean, Jackson and me went back out to the farmer's market Saturday morning, one of the first things I did was stop by the stand we bought the tree from b/c I couldn't remember the name of it. Well, I got to talking to the man who ran the stand (not the guy who was there on Wednesday) and he informed me that the tree was going to get about 30 feet tall and 12 feet wide!! And we had it planted in a 3 feet wide bed! That would never work. The guy was very nice and offered to take the tree back, so we replaced it with one that was better suited for that space. But the real reason for our trip was to get the rest of the plants for the beds. We chose some really pretty azaleas and a knock-out rose. The lady who sold us the azaleas totally sold us on the rose -- she just raved about how great it was. We'll see... It's supposed to be really low maintenance w/ lots of blooms. That was enough to sell me! And my Grandma used to have a beautiful rose garden, so I guess I'll always have a sweet spot for rose bushes. So after a long day's work, with a couple of breaks for rain showers, our planting was complete!
Jackson & Tate
My friend Brandy brought Tate over on Friday to have a little playdate with Jackson. Tate and Jackson are only 11 days apart (right Brandy?) so they are both at a great age to play together! They had a ball!! It was such a warm day, so we let them play for a while in the sand and water table. And let me just tell you, they had sand (and water) everywhere! They were both soakin' wet and covered in sand!

Of course an afternoon w/ almost 2 year olds wasn't without incident. As we were heading into the backyard, Tate took a tumble down the deck steps that looked really scary. He ended up with a bump on his noggin' and a few scratches, but he was okay. Thank goodness! He was tough though! After just a couple of minutes he was right back at it! Check him and Jackson out on the Gator. Jackson was driving from the passenger's seat. When you really don't do much steering anyway, I guess it doesn't matter which seat you ride in!
When it was time to come inside for a snack, Brandy and me just stripped them down to their diapers and sprayed their clothes out with the hose. There was sand everywhere!

A Magical Vacation
So, I know it's taken me a few days to get the blog updated with pictures from Florida, but after such a busy (and really fun!) vacation, I needed a couple of days of rest! We all had such a good time! We arrived at our resort, Old Key West, Thursday afternoon via Disney's Magical Express. We didn't waste any time enjoying the warm sunny weather and headed straight to the pool after we checked in. Okay, so the water was a little too chilly for me, but the boys and the kiddos all got in. But now on to the fun stuff. Here's the rundown of our trip...
Day 1: Animal Kingdom
We got an early start Friday morning and headed over to Animal Kingdom for breakfast with the characters. It was a really good time! The whole gang was there -- Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy. We really weren't sure what Jackson would think of the characters (especially after how he felt about the Easter Bunny), but he LOVED them! And I mean, absolutely, couldn't get enough loved them! After breakfast we headed out to the park to enjoy some of the attractions, including my favorite, the Kilamanjaro Safari. One of the neatest things we saw on the safari were three baby elephants playing in the water. It was really cool -- National Geographic kinda cool! We headed back to our resort that afternoon so Emma and Jackson could take a little nap before going out for a yummy dinner.
Day 2: Magic Kingdom
(I took this one!)
We were all excited about going to Magic Kingdom Saturday morning, so we got there before the park even opened and caught the opening show on Main Street USA. We packed as much fun into the day as possible, with Jackson and Emma even napping in their strollers. I had done some research before we left (I know, I'm a dork) so I knew which ones of the attractions would be best for the little kids. We spent most of the day in Fantasyland and Toontown, where we found the Dumbo ride, Mickey and Minnie's house and a couple of playgrounds that Jackson loved! The highlight of the day was that afternoon when we joined Cinderella inside the castle for dinner at her Royal Table. Ryley was all dressed up in her Cinderella dress and her beautiful new crown. She looked just like a princess!! And the picture of her and Cinderella together is just priceless!
Day 3: Epcot/Hollywood Studios
We started out our day on Sunday morning at Epcot and our first stop was the Finding Nemo attraction. It was really cool because there's a ride, an aquarium and even an interactive show with Crush the Turtle all in one stop. Ryley had lunch reservations at the Norwegian Castle with all the princesses, but Sean and I decided to skip that one with Jackson. Cinderella was all the princess he needed! :-) It actually worked out pretty well, because Jackson napped in the stroller while everyone was at lunch. After he finally woke up, we went over to the Epcot Character Spot to meet Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald and Goofy. He was soooo excited! He had the hardest time waiting to see each of characters -- it was hilarious to watch him! He wanted so bad to get to the front of each line!
After Ryley and Jackson saw each of the characters, Sean, Jackson, Pat, Beth and me went over to Hollywood Studios, while Amy, Stevie and the girls headed back to the resort to hang out by the pool. I really wanted to take Jackson to Hollywood Studios to check out a couple of the attractions -- the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground and the Playhouse Disney-Live on Stage show. He had a great time at the playground -- loved the slides! I think the Playhouse Disney show may have been his favorite from the entire trip. It was a puppet-type show featuring all the characters from Jackson's favorite shows -- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Handy Manny. He pulled out some sweet dance moves that I hadn't seen before! He had us all cracking up!!
Day 4: Sea World
We spent Monday at Sea World and did lots of fun stuff! Amy, Ryley, Jackson and I fed some dolphins, which was really cool! Of course we watched the all-time favorite Shamu show. Our seats were within the soak zone, but we ended up just getting sprinkled a little -- no soaking for us this time, even though we were ready! Monday seemed to be the hottest day, so taking a break inside some of the exhibits was cool -- literally! We finally made our way over to the kid zone that afternoon and Jackson had a blast! Ryley and Stevie had headed over to a water park at this point, so it was just Emma and Jackson hanging out. We found a little water area where they had lots of little sprinklers. It was the perfect place for them to cool off! After that, Jackson found a huge slide that he just couldn't get enough of! I bet he went down that thing a dozen times! He was having the best time!! By the end of the day, he was still playing hard, but we knew he had to be tired! He did great though!
Day 5: Back Home!!
After a fun filled few days, we headed back home Tuesday afternoon. I think we had all had enough and were ready for a break! There's just so much to see and do at Disney that it's hard to stop! But don't worry, we'll be back! Give Jackson a few years and he'll be ready to do it all over again!!
So, you may be asking, "Where are all the pictures?" Well, we took nearly 500 pictures while we were there, so it would be impossible to include them all in a blog post. I've edited them down to a mere 275 and into a slideshow. Click here to check them out!
