Jack in the Box

Jackson has been fascinated by boxes for quite some time now. He loves to try and see how well he can fit inside of any box he find....small box, big box, giant box, etc. He has one box right now that he and I can fit into and he tries to convince everyone who comes over to get inside it with him. It's really funny!

Well, today Jackson decided he would empty every (I mean, EVERY) toy out of his toy box so that he could get inside. Who would have thought that playing in a box could be so much fun!
He goes in...

...then closes the lid.

He's in there! (Notice all the toys?)

Peek!

That was fun!

Snow Day '09

We had our first snow fall today with about 5 inches of the powdery stuff in Wendell. When we first went out Jackson didn't quite know what to think of it, but it didn't take him long to "warm" up to it. Not literally of course, it is very cold out there!! We had to play in shifts, since it didn't take him long to be soaked. In some places the snow came up to his knees, so he had a hard time walking through it. He would fall over, then just sit there and toss it around a little. And keeping his mittens on...impossible. First of all, they aren't very conducive to playing in the snow since they are knit and very thin, but they helped a little I guess.

Once Daddy came home this afternoon, we decided to go back our for Round 2. Our plan was to make a snow man, but Jackson didn't think that was such a good idea. As soon as Sean could get a mound packed together, Jackson would just come over and knock it down. Not to mention the snow was so powdery that just getting some packed together was a challenge in itself. Not to worry, we are in for a very cold night tonight, so maybe we'll try again tomorrow. We have to build a snow man, right!?!

All in all though, Jackson's first snow day was a lot of fun! He even learned a new word...snow! Actually, he can't quite get the 's', so it's more like 'no'. It's still really cute though! But anyway, now that we've had a little taste of this cold, wet white stuff....bring on SPRINGTIME!!

Here are a few pictures from our fun day in the snow...

Yes, the snow was up to his knees in a few places!

He was covered after I threw a couple of snowballs at him! Gotta get him started early!! And BTW, the mitten was only off for a couple of minutes...we came right in after this.

Self Tanner & Meatballs

I think he may have "applied" just a little too much.

2009 Goals

My wonderful friend Ashely has given me inspiration to document my goals for 2009. I'm thinking I may find extra motivation in knowing I have shared my goals with others. My goals are certainly not "stretch goals", but they are specific, measurable and realistic.

1. I (We) will take control of all the files in the office. It's been a disaster since we moved into this house in 2007.

2. I will create a system for filing recipes and meal ideas. I currently have recipes in a folder, a binder, a lot of books, and just stashed in the cabinet. My goal is to make my grocery shopping and meal planning a little easier. Variety. Not the same ole thing every other week.

I may add more goals as I move through the year, but right now, these are the goals I have set for myself.

If you have not already set your goals for 2009, I encourage you to give them some thought. Even if you don't share them with anyone, write them down. It will be very rewarding when you are able to look back at something you set out to achieve. Happy 2009!

50 Years Young

My mom turned 50 this week and we celebrated her birthday Saturday night with friends and family. It was a great night with some really good food and a duo of very talented musicians! The pork was cooked by Ziggy and I would highly recommend that, "You call the Zig before you cook your next PIG!" He is a two-time BBQ cook-off champion and I know why. It was great! Our friends Timmy Taylor and Billy Jackson provided the entertainment and they put on a great show! Everyone talked about how much fun they had. But most of all, the birthday girl herself had a wonderful time! We were all so happy to have been there to celebrate such a special milestone with her! I've heard (obviously) that all the fun really begins at 50! She is such a wonderful mother to me and has always made sure that I felt special, so it was great for me to have an opportunity to throw a party all for her. I love you Mama!

This is "The Twist"! My mom loves to dance! It would not have been her birthday party without a little booty shakin', and we almost didn't after we had a little technical problem! Thanks to Sandra for having all her favorites ready to play!

We sounded great! :-)

Silly Boy

Jackson is one silly little boy! He makes us laugh everyday and sometimes even cracks himself up! Here are just a couple of his latest "funnies"...

Jackson insisted on wearing his Daddy's shoes. He was too funny trying to walk around in them! (I think he may have learned this trick from Easton!)

"Dr. Jackson will see you now."

Spaghetti-O Face

Jackson had dinner at Aunt Amy's house and had an especially yummy dinner -- Spaghetti-O's! He had to borrow Emma's cup and bib, but he's confident in his manhood, so all the pink didn't bother him too much. It was pretty funny though! :-) And man, was his face messy?! But, he loved them!!
